when i set out to create this album it was composed of a few scraps of audio that were "too weird" for the albums they had been created for.
it quickly became a journey inward as it did not take long to realize that weird lay not in the absurd, obtuse, or uncomfortable (for all of those things have already been explored so thoroughly, even if they are weird to some, in the general consciousness they are old ideas by a long shot). weird, it seems, dwells in the expression of self, of my individual experience translated through sound. something like that would surely be strange to anyone who heard it as it is unique to my expression.
too weird for tv/vt rof driew oot is a mirror album: the first half is reflected in reverse on the second half. this equates to more than the songs simply being backwards, as many of the songs on the first half contain samples which have been reversed, so when they are reflected on the second half they become pronounced in an entirely new way. the relationship between halves creates an interesting dynamic which begs further exploring.
the opening and closing songs are intentionally silent. this is to give the listener opportunity to hear the music in the ambient world around them. even in a small room with doors and windows closed there are soft vibrations throughout your space which if appreciated correctly become soft and sweet music. or perhaps with the window open some neighbours can be heard arguing, it is all valid. this silent space also provides a moment of meditation which combines the sounds of inner and the sounds of outer into one.
for older holographic rabbit fans you may recognize the song "stranger tastes". that's because it is the album "strange taste" remixed and combined into a single track.
